Triennium News – Today – July 14
· During July 16-20th
Kelly Dolson, Riley Grainger and N’Senga Kinzonzi will be attending the
Presbyterian Triennium Youth Conference at Purdue University. This conference
happens only once every three years and it has been over 20 years since OMHPC
has sent any youth. What an exciting time to become connected once again to
this historical event.
· This is an amazing
opportunity to connect with youth from across the country and the Hudson Valley
and share a love of Christ and faith.
· The total investment to
send them to Triennium is approximately $2,000.
Here are a few ways you can help:
· Please pray!!! The
ladies will be embarking on an overnight bus ride for transportation to and
from the event. Pray for safety, God’s graces for all the adult advisers who
may need more sleep than teenagers, and fun times for all!
· June 23- July 14th
- Bottle Deposit Collection—Drop your clean, empty cans/plastic
bottles in the containers in the Fellowship Hall. This is a great way to
recycle your cans after those great graduation and summer parties that you have
coming up. Please no glass.
· And from now
until July 14th, when they will be commissioned to go by the church,
there will be special envelopes for those who would like to make a donation.

· July 14th -
Brunch and Cake/Summer Desert Auction (called by our very own Joe Miedema) following
the 9:30 worship service! The auctions are always lots of fun! Tickets for the
brunch are $10 and all proceeds from the brunch and auction will go to support
the trip.
· Following Triennium,
the group will be sharing their experiences with the congregation. Thank you
for your support!!
Sue Farley’s Retirement Party – July 6

Rachel’s Elephant-Proof Garden
· The Youth
Group’s help at Pierson’s Farm for the Farm to Fork Fondo bicycle tour resulted
in $550 for Rachel’s elephant-proof garden in Namibia.

We are looking for a couple of folks willing to help with some ideas and
making them happen (dream big, scale back) for this fall! You in?

Because this fall will be focused around preaching/teaching about Old
Testament “Heroes” we need folks who can imagine ways to tell their stories
(like Noah) in really creative ways.
In addition, we will be looking for folks who really have a desire to
see new families come to our worship and want to see really positive ways to
welcome them and get them settled.
And we also want to stretch our communications so that we are reaching
folks with good information in the best way possible, not only to reach new
people, but to keep in good communication with our currently active ones!
And we need graphics support, not only at the logo level, but for our OT
Heroes series. So, how do we make it feel like we are Moses in the Ark on a
Sunday morning in our whole building!
We want to expand our small group network, and so are looking for some
folks who love small groups, and might be willing to create a series of small
group gatherings to see how OT Heroes can change our thinking and doing today!
And we want to expand our safety team, as we look at ways to keep
everyone who gathers here safe from trips and falls, keeping our records
secure, fire safety, and safety from bad actors, both in terms of internal
practices, as well as outside influencers.
These areas of special skills are outside the normal internal working of
the church, where we are looking for EMPOWERkids staff, church officers, and
directors of programs. These are bite-sized opportunities to “make a
difference” using the time, energy, and craziness you already have.
So, for example, a welcome gift idea: church mugs with Starbucks cards.
Or a perfect place for Bible and Brew. Or, light stacks (read that lite snacks,
didn’t you) made out of furnace filters and LED par cans, that dance with the
music. Curious? See Jeff or any of our other crazy leaders!
