GLORY TO THE FATHER
“Glory be to the Father, and the Son,
and the Holy Ghost; as it was, in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen.”
AN AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (UNISON)
This is the good news which we
received, in which we stand and by which we are saved; that Christ died for our
sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the
third day; and that he appeared to Mary, then to the twelve, and to many
faithful witnesses. We believe he is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He
is the first and the last, the beginning and the end, he is our Lord and our
God. Amen.
SHARING OF JOYS AND CONCERNS &

THE LORD’S PRAYER
"Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Community Yard Sale – August 3
· Otisville’s Annual Community
Yard Sale will be held on August 3rd. The church will not be holding
a sale inside the building this year, however, church families are welcome to
set up their own sale in the Orchard St. parking lot behind the Christian
Education Building. If you are interested, please contact Candy Burnett. The parking lot will be put on the Yard Sale
map if we have people interested.
Night Out Against Crime – August 6
· Chief Paul
Rickard let me know today that the MHPD is doing a “Night Out Against Crime” on
Tuesday August 6, and wondered whether we wanted to put up a booth that night.
If
we want a booth, a planning team is needed ASAP!
Deacons
· Would appreciate any donations of oatmeal, cereal,
jam, jelly, applesauce, canned veggies or fruit. Complete shopping lists are
available at the rear of the sanctuary.
· Invite you to buy one or two reusable shopping bags
when you shop and drop them in the box in the fellowship hall or give to any
Deacon. Our goal is 300 bags that we need to deliver Thanksgiving baskets!
· Looking for individuals interested in volunteering
some time to our food pantry. Tasks would involve:
o Assisting Jen on Thursdays from 12-2 with
distribution to our food pantry clients.
o Assisting with the pick-up of supplies from Goshen,
Cornwall and Monticello when orders are made. You would never be alone - a
Deacon would always be with you.
o Learning to “shop the dock” in Cornwall with Kathy
or other Deacons to begin distributing bread and fresh produce to our food
pantry clients.
· The Deacons appreciate any time you may be able to
give. Please see or contact Kathy Card (914-443-7548) if you are
interested in helping out. Thank You!
New Teams
We are looking for a couple of folks willing to help
with some ideas and making them happen (dream big, scale back) for this fall!
You in?
·
A Creative Team
·
A Welcome Team
·
A Communication Team
·
A Graphics Team
·
A Small Groups Team
·
A Safety Team
Because this fall will be focused around
preaching/teaching about Old Testament “Heroes” we need folks who can imagine
ways to tell their stories (like Noah) in really creative ways.
In addition, we will be looking for folks who really
have a desire to see new families come to our worship and want to see really
positive ways to welcome them and get them settled.
We also want to stretch our communications so that we
are reaching folks with good information in the best way possible, not only to
reach new people, but to keep in good communication with our currently active
ones!
We need graphics support, not only at the logo level,
but for our OT Heroes series. So, how do we make it feel like we are Moses in
the Ark on a Sunday morning in our whole building!
We want to expand our small group network, and so are
looking for some folks who love small groups, and might be willing to create a
series of small group gatherings to see how OT Heroes can change our thinking
and doing today!
We want to expand our safety team, as we look at ways
to keep everyone who gathers here safe from trips and falls, keeping our
records secure, fire safety, and safety from bad actors, both in terms of
internal practices, as well as outside influencers.
These areas of special skills are outside the normal
internal working of the church, where we are looking for EMPOWERkids staff,
church officers, and directors of programs. These are bite-sized opportunities
to “make a difference” using the time, energy, and craziness you already have.
“I Need a Hero”
Old Testament Heroes
So, what exactly constitutes a hero?
Intelligence, Patience or Decisiveness?
Wisdom, Passion, or Holiness?
Courage or faith?
Or some of all with God at work in the muddle!
Be sure to be around for our fall preaching series
on Old Testament Heroes and find out how God used them, and how God might like
to use You…
To make a difference!
Hymn 140. Great
is the Lord
Michael W. Smith and Deborah D. Smith
– CCLI #791679
Great is the Lord,
He is holy and just;
By His power we trust in His love.
Great is the Lord,
He is faithful and true;
By His mercy He proves He is love.
Great is the Lord, and worthy of glory!
Great is the Lord, and worthy of praise!
Great is the Lord!
Now lift up your voice, now lift up your voice:
Great is the Lord! Great is the Lord!
Great is the Lord,
He is holy and just;
By His power we trust in His love.
Great is the Lord,
He is faithful and true;
By His mercy He proves He is love.
Great are you Lord, and worthy of glory!
Great are you Lord, and worthy of praise!
Great are you Lord!
I lift up my voice, I lift up my voice:
Great are You, Lord! Great are You, Lord!
Hymn 213. We
Bring the Sacrifice of Praise
Kirk Dearman © 1984 John T. Benson
Publishing – CCLI #791679
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of thanksgiving
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of joy
Hymn 562. Be Thou
My Vision
Traditional Irish Hymn & Melody, ©
1986 Word Music Mary E. Byrne, Eleanor H. Hull, David Allen | CCLI #791679
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, Save that Thou art –
Thou my best thought, By day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son,
Thou in me dwelling, And I with Thee one.
Riches I heed not, Nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, Now and always;
Thou and Thou only, First in my heart,
High King of heaven, My treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, My victory won,
May I reach heaven’s joys, Bright heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, Whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
